Brew your own beer

A recent post on Facebook by my fellow beer loving biological brother got me thinking about the ‘brew your own beer’ process.

Over the course of my beer career I have experienced pretty much every quality of beer. From the kind that I crave at the simple mention of it’s name down to the home brew that some friends brought to a house party once that quite bluntly tasted like piss.

That same beer sat there for the rest of the night with a sign on it that said “Free Beer” and amazingly enough no one dared to try it. They were obviously wise to the fact that there must be something wrong with it for it to be free.

So how do you go about making a quality home brew that you won’t be ashamed to serve to your buddies?

The video below gives an excellent stepping stone to get you started on the whole process:

Keep in mind that when you start this process initially it won’t be cheap and you’re bound to make mistakes. However, once you have all the right pieces in place then you will not only be proud of yourself but you will likely also become the neighbourhood legend with your fellow beer lovers telling stories of the great ‘Beer Baron’ that lives down the street.

Hell it might even get you a girlfriend and if it doesn’t then at least you have beer .. nothing wrong with that!

For those of you that live in the Vancouver, BC area I bring to you one of the greatest gifts you will receive this summer:

If you happen to find me curled up in a ball at this event please give me a kick or two Tylenol and a glass of water.
